Born on January 4, 1983, Dayang grew up in the heart of London, United Kingdom. He went on to study music at the University of Bristol earning a Bachelor degree in July 2005. After graduating Dayang moved to New York City to study and acquire skills in Film Music Composition where he learnt much of his composing skills under the teachings of acclaimed concert composer, Marc Consoli. Ian earned a Masters degree in July 2006.
Dayang's intention is to write scores for moving picture, whether it be for short film, commercials, documentary, or animation, whilst the desideratum in his film music is to compose subtle music to reflect the mood rather than to over power or enhance it. Recent projects have been collaborations with New York directors and film makers Tony Clomax and Keith Robinson, UK director Craig Ford, and student film maker Jonathan Dudley at the School of Audio Engineering Institute in London, whose film, 'Justification', was shown at the Short Film Corner 2009 Cannes Film Festival. Earlier in 2008, Dayang won an award at the Indie Gathering Competition for 'A Joker’s Card' Trailer and was also shortlisted for the Cologne Soundtrack Competition 6.0 2009 and attended the award ceremony in Cologne, Germany. He is currently scoring music for a short film created by an up-and-coming director Sorcha Anglim and should be completed in the early months of 2010. Ian Dayang currently resides in London.
